Chapati Bread with Curried Dahl
A delicious Indian recipe that will leave everyone craving more. Serve with extra bread and a Raita and/or Quick Mango Pickle for that authentic flair.

Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 5cm piece ginger, chopped
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
- 50g melted butter
- 1 sprig curry leaves, picked
- 2 teaspoons black mustard seeds
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 long dried red chillies
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 250g pumpkin, 1cm dice
- 1 carrot, 1cm dice
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- 250g whole red lentils
- 1 packet of Supreme Foods Chapati bread
Method
Pre heat the oven to 180°C.
- Using a mortar and pestle grind the garlic, ginger and cumin seeds until a paste forms.
- Heat butter in a saucepan, add the curry leaves, mustard seeds and the ginger/garlic spice paste. Cook, stirring regularly for 4 minutes. Add the tomato paste, turmeric, chilli and onion. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Add the pumpkin, carrots, tomatoes, lentils and 750ml of water. Cook for 20 minutes.
- Place the chapatti bread two at a time in a microwave for 30 seconds. Line 6x12cm ovenproof dishes with the chapati making sure the edges stand up. Divide mix between the dishes. Transfer to the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the bread is crisp.
